I am a BIIG fan of Sew Mama Sew...................I religiously participate in all their contests & read it regularly:)
I won a skirt contest a few months back (2nd prize actually) & have been receiving Ottobre magazines as a prize:)
......................so naturally I would be foolish not to participate when there is another sewing contest going on!
This time it is a pillow contest!.................& I jumped at the opportunity as I just know how to make a very special kinda pillow!...................It's a technique I was taught in school by my craft teacher,I hated it back then but now that I have turned all artsy craftsy,I loved doing it!
So I present to you ..................my first entry...............The Silk Doughnut!
It's made in Maroon Satin, has smocking, pleating & the center is tied with a neat button!..................cool is it!
It certainly involved a lot of technique!.................It is 17" in diameter & pretty thick too! Here are more pics
I loved making those......ummmm...............for lack of a better word, the scallops all around the pillow!
SMS is allowing 2 entries & I am a sucker for crafting so naturally I HAD to make a second one too!
So meet Sunrise.................my pretty pillow in yellow cotton with ribbon work,a lil machine embroidery & my trademark(?) scallops:)
Sorry................couldn't fuze the pics like my other ones!.................the color is too light for that & I haven't conquered photoshop yet!
I used a layer of sponge batting to give a lil quilted effect. The pillow is 16" by 16".
Check out the embroidered sun/flower!...............I love the lil mirror in the center:)
So.............I am good to go!
Will mail the pics to SMS & please tell me I am going to win this;)

The red one is such a beautiful pillow! But I think I like the yellow better, love the embroidery! You should definitely win with either one!

Hi there! Stopping by from SITS. Those are beautiful pillows! I don't know that I've got the patience to do something like that, so I'm glad you do! :)
Have an Extraordinary Day!
Visiting from SITS. Wow, how long does it take to make a pillow with all those tucks?

LOL.....my teacher was subjected to as many swear words as many number of tucks in the pillow;)
i can't even remember her name today:(
Thank you Maam:)
