Hi all.....................good morning:)
Today is a beautiful day, cool breeze & intermittent rains.................just perfect:)
only if the kids had school!!!!!!!!!!! Well...........today I am going to make 1 purse for sure.
Last month I did an etsy custom order for a really short red corduroy skirt................somehow I cut it a few cm smaller................when you are selling professionally even a few cm make a difference,so I just added an elastic to that skirt & it became a brand new one for Sasha:)
Here she is & this is her idea of a shutter worthy smile:))))This is the close up,I even added a small rose made out of extra scraps.
Well..............since I botched up this one I had to go buy the fabric once more for the actual order!!!!!
Both the times I was left with extra fabric ,so now I have 2 pieces of this gorgeous red corduroy & I have no intention of wasting it....................I am going to make a purse out of them. The fabrics are 19" by 20" & another one is 18" by 23".So I get a common 18" by 20" in both of them & that is how big my purse is going to be:) Simple right :). Here are the pieces
I also have a very pretty multicolored cotton fabric with huge chicken embroidery(form of Indian embroidery...........not the edible chicken:))) holes in it.It is again left over from one of my previous projects.Ain't I prudent:).The corduroy shows off really well through the holes.I dont have a pattern but I have roughly tried to imagine what I would like. This pic will show you exactly how roughly;)
What I am planning is the purse in red coudroy & the band & the bow in the multicoloured fabric.Havent thought about the strap yet.And I think a magnetic closure????Lets see.............I will decide that when I reach that stage:)I tried tracing the basic shape on the coudroy with tailor's chalk but somehow thats not happening:(
So I am going to cut it freehand:)YES ...............FREEHAND:) Did I mention that I am an engineer & I passed(barely) a subject called Engineering Drawing where we were supposed to draw top view, side view, lateral view................basically every type of view possible for all type of objects. So I am hoping my training will kick in now & help me out :)If not ,I am sure I will come up with some other use for the mangled fabric:)Here I start..............
Hmmmmm.....................not bad. This is the final shape.Looks good to me.Kurkute sir will be proud of me;)))
So I have cut 2 of these.............but now I have realised the regular fusible interfacing I have at home may not be a good idea.I think I will use fusible fleece instead of the stiff one as coudroy has quite a bit of stretch. So now I have to go to the market ......till then this is stalled:( Hopefully I will pull this off & if I do I will put a tutorial for this & post it in a day or two:)Any ideas are welcome!!!
